A phalloplasty is a surgical procedure performed to create a penis. This can be achieved with several different techniques based on patient’s wishes including size, desired harvest site, anticipated scar formation, as well as patient specific factors. Dr Hanna offers several different options to help you achieve your goal.
Abdominal Flap Phalloplasty
An abdominal flap phalloplasty utilizes a pedicled flap of abdominal skin and underlying tissue to create a penis. The benefit of this procedure vs a free flap is no microsurgery is required which cuts down on potential complications. The blood supply is never interrupted.
This procedure is performed as a single stage, and usually requires a single night stay as an inpatient in the hospital. You can expect to a well concealed scar at the donor site.
Free Flap Phalloplasty
A free flap phalloplasty is a complex and multistage procedure utilizing a flap of tissue from a specific donor site. Working with skilled microsurgeons utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, we offer the following flaps: thigh (anterolateral thigh/ALT), back (musculocutaneous latissimus/MLD), and forearm (radial forearm/RFF).
We are also able to perform metoidioplasty, vaginectomy, scrotoplasty, urethral lengthening, testicular implant placement, and penile implant placement which will allow you to have a stiff erection for penetrative intercourse when inflated.
